Mateu Lahoz to Referee Champions League Final

Mateu Lahoz of Spain has been appointed to referee the 2023 UEFA Champions League final between Chelsea and Manchester City. Lahoz is one of the most experienced referees in Europe and has officiated in several high-profile matches, including the 2018 FIFA World Cup final. He is known for his strict approach to the game and has a reputation for being fair and impartial.

Lahoz will be assisted by two Spanish assistant referees, Pau Cebrian Devis and Roberto Diaz Perez Del Palomar. The fourth official will be Carlos Del Cerro Grande from Spain. The video assistant referee (VAR) will be Alejandro Hernandez Hernandez from Spain, and the assistant VAR will be Juan Martinez Munuera from Spain.

The Champions League final will be played at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon, Portugal on May 29, 2023. Chelsea and Manchester City are both making their second appearances in the final in three years. Chelsea won the trophy in 2012, while Manchester City lost to Real Madrid in 2022.
